Akio Hirata Exhibition

A spectacular retrospective exhibition about the internationally known milliner Akio Hirata is currently running at the Spiral Garden in Tokyo, powered by japanese studio Nendo. The exhibition features 4000 white "ghost hats" hanging from walls and ceiling with special lighting effects, creating a dreamy environment through which the visitor can enjoy an interactive experience.

 The exhibition will run through the 3rd of July.

Clean Day

A new short film by artist George Traikos, the first part of an in progress sensual fetish series. The film is telling the story of a simple bathing by making this daily habit into a ritual.

Chi Zhang F/W 2011-12 Collection

 

Chi Zhang, one of China's emerging fashion designers recently presented his new collection for next winter, an amazing menswear line, one of the most interesting coming out from China at the moment.

Shorts, leggings and slim suits with fine leather detailing, strictly in black and white accessorized with jewellery encrusted gas masks, consisted a beautiful collection inspired by the rumoured end of the world during 2012.

With inspiration from Mad Max movie and a bit of S/M (two of my favourite fashion elements), the collection seems mature enough to be distributed in the West world.

La Maison Champs-Elysées

Maison Martin Margiela presents its first hotel collaboration with La Maison Champs-Elysées, a spectacular space located within the historical building of the Maison de Centraliens, in the heart of Paris. 

Consisting of two buildings, one dating from the Second Empire under Napoleon III and the other built more recently, the legendary hotel has been recreated to a contemporary, artistic, ultra-luxury, surrealistic space.

La Maison Champs Elysees is slated to relaunch with the designs of Maison Martin Margiela in July 2011.

Mixed Signals

A special exhibition currently running at the Andy Warhol Museum is titled Mixed Signals: Artists Consider Masculinity in Sports, featuring works that probe the stereotype of the American male athlete.

Well-known contemporary artists like Matthew Barney, Catherine Opie, Collier Schorr, Sam Taylor-Wood and many more demonstrate their thoughts about the male athlete figure through a special selection of photos, paintings and installations, emphasizing the decoding of its masculinity.

The exhibition will be on view through August the 7th.
