Maske by Phyllis Galembo

 

Maske is the latest album by New-York based photographer Phyllis Galembo, featuring thrilling images of masquerade and carnival characters from Nigeria, Zambia, Benin, Sierra Leone, Burkina Faso, Ghana and Haiti.

 

Phyllis started shooting these awsome characters 25 years ago, focused in African and Carribean masquerade traditions. Her collections are full of extravagant costumes, masks and headpieces made of plants, wood, patchworks, papier-mache or ropes giving a ritual, scary or even humouristic result, through free expression.

 

The collection consists of 107 documentary portraits, which are currently exhibited at the Steven Kasher Gallery in New York, by the 2nd of April.

Loewe F/W 2011-12 Collection

Good stylist friends Katerina Manolaraki and Hristos Kalliarekos aka D_Fine attended the Loewe fashion show in Paris a few days ago and kindly provided me with these two beautiful pictures. The Loewe collection featured all the key trends for next season: rounded shoulders, gorgeous coats, fine leather and some touches of bright colours. Very modern and chic at the same time.

Sonia Rykiel F/W 2011-12 Collection

 

 The freshest, brighest and most colourful show of all during Paris Fashion Week. The Sonia Rykiel girls were relaxed and happy having a pleasant walk on the catwalk, which reminded a park with a big fence in its middle and trees made of neon lights. Big plaids,wool, fur and the most amazing colours: orange, yellow, candy pink and turqoise. True Parisian style.

Maison Martin Margiela F/W 2011-12 Collection

 

A new wearable winter collection by Maison Martin Margiela based on multifunctional dresses and two-piece outfits, mostly in black, ivory, burgundy and pink. The collection was complimented by an interesting accessories collection, such as tight high boots, big silver jewellery and long zippered gloves.

 

The show was held at Palais de Tokyo, in a dark catwalk with big spotlights lighting just the models, who were walking slowly, giving the impression of a lonely night walk.

Dervishes in Space

A fashion film trilogy inspired by science fiction, featuring the story of three space travellers who have to face their biggest desire and fears, after entering a hyper reality zone. Directed by Christian Straub and produced by Riese Farbaute.

One of the most fabulous presentations, Vionnet's line gave the audience exactly what they wanted: high level design, chic outfits and the brightest than ever colours. Madeleine would be proud.
